Eugene Gritton is Vice President at the RAND Corporation and serves as Director of RAND’s National Security Research Division (NSRD) and National Defense Research Institute (NDRI). He is widely recognized for his expertise in acquisition and technology for the military, advanced weapon systems performance, and defense technology.
As vice president and director of NSRD, Dr. Gritton has responsibility for RAND research and analysis conducted for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, the Unified Combatant Commands, the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, defense and intelligence agencies, allied foreign governments, and foundations. As director of NSRD’s Acquisition and Technology Policy Center, Dr. Gritton was responsible for the formulation and direction of research projects that addressed the opportunities and challenges presented by the technological revolution and ways to preserve clear U.S. military superiority in an era of constraints. From 1986 to 1993, Dr. Gritton served as NSRD’s deputy vice president. He also served as the head of RAND’s Engineering and Applied Sciences Department.
He received his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from UCLA.
