Currently, Dr. Hairapetian is Vice President and Entrepreneur in Residence of Miramar Venture Partners, serves as CEO and is on the Board of Starport Communications, Inc., a Miramar portfolio company. As President and CEO of Starport Communications, he is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of the company, business development and day-to-day operations.

Dr. Hairapetian brings more than 17 years of semiconductor-industry experience to Starport. Prior to its acquisition by Broadcom, Dr. Hairapetian was the cofounder and CEO of NewPort Communications where he led the engineering effort in developing the world’s first 10Gigabit transceivers (OC-48 and OC-192) in CMOS. These products are now the industry’s benchmark and are used in the majority of 10G optical transmission systems. Under Dr. Hairapetian’s leadership as Sr. Director and General Manager of Optical business, Broadcom became the leading supplier of 10Gigabit transceivers for optical communications. Dr. Hairapetian previously worked for Rockwell’s Semiconductor Division in Newport Beach, CA, and Sierra Semiconductor (PMC-Sierra) San Jose, CA as a senior Analog/Mixed-Signal design engineer.

Dr. Hairapetian received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
